Zero day.
We checked out of the Quality Inn and waited an hour for the fly shop to open at 12 p.m. I spent an hour in the fly shop and got a leader and some more flies. I also got some good advise on streams in the Shenandoah National Forest.
After the fly shop we went to Afton Mountain Vineyards for a wine tasting. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we each got a glass of wine after the tasting. Two women in their mid fifties Judy and Ashley joined us on the patio and clearly had more wine to drink than us. They were very chatty and were intrigued by my AT thru hike. After further conversation Ashley blessed me with a $20 bill. I tried to deny it but she insisted. I thanked her and we parted ways.
We got some pictures at the vineyard and included IHOP.
After the vineyard we went and checked into Afton Mountain bed and breakfast. We checked into the Mornington Room and went for a swim. Man the pool felt wonderful.
We took showers and headed to watch the big game USA vs. Portugal. The crowd was interesting and I got wild! Go USA! We shoulda locked down our defense and we could have prevented the late goal. Oh well we are still in great shape and will be ready for Germany. I will be able to talk some good trash to my fellow German AT hikers until the match!!
We went back to the Bed and Breakfast and called it a night.
