Zero. No miles hiked on AT. Slept well at the econo. Updated blog and re supplied at Wal Mart. Bought enough food for two weeks only needed food for nine days lol. Next stop Parisburg VA. Walked into Marion and got a ride from a town of Marion worker. Went to river bend park to try to attain a free ride to Mt Rogers visitor center. Ended up paying $16 for a taxi ride. Split four ways came to $5 each. Re arranged my food for better pack storage.
Went fishing at the pond and caught two brim. Finally caught a nice bass. Thanks for the bass fly Beau! Got checked by a Park Ranger for my fishing license. I knew it was coming but I was confidently prepared. Paid $94 for a VA fishing license. Nonresident Freshwater and trout stamp I was good right? Turns out I didn't have a $4 national park stamp. In NC the regulations do not require an additional National Park stamp. I was like oh man I'm in trouble... He complimented me on my fly rod and gave me time to put it up before getting my license out of the shelter. He let me go because it was an honest mistake and he knew I was trying to do the right thing. I thanked him and realized further law enforcement aren't so bad. He also praised me for being a thru hiker with a fly rod. Whew good times and I will avoid fishing in VA national parks until I get my $4 stamp. The partnership shelter is magnificent and that is where we will lay our head tonight.
Btw the Japanese guy I'm sleeping beside snores :). I also saw mice everywhere in the shelter when I went to bed. Ima get use to em and call em my buds. That is as long as they don't get into my food!! It's well hung with a plastic bottle over the top to make em fall if they go down the food hang strings.
