Hit the trail around 11:03 a.m. We waited for the morning storm to pass. My gear was dry and I felt good. Gator and I completed 19.6 AT miles and received a pick up at VA 621 Craig Creek Rd. by Homer's daughter Taylor and her husband Nathan. They were and are awesome people! Also, a nice gentleman stopped and offered us some food. He had just went to Trader Joes for his family and saw us waiting for Homer. He tried offering us everything and said he always stocks up when he goes to Trader Joes. We politely took a few things and exchanged stories. I believe is name was Don and he worked for the state of VA in environmental discharge. A neat man with an excellent heart.
Homer and Teresa Witcher... Superb individuals who will ensure a hiker is ALWAYS taken care of. I had the privilege of staying with the Witchers with my mother 6-8 years ago. I cannot go without saying these individuals are like my extended family. I truly love them! I cannot even begin to explain how generous and beautiful their kind souls are!!
Jefferson Oak. Second largest oak on AT. It's measurements blow my mind.
Me and IHOP.
Ridge walking on a slant.
What a view!
What did you do today? Oh just walked over the Eastern Continental divide :).
