Day 22, June 6, 2014

Woke up at 10 a.m. at Homers. Helped prepare for the bear bait 5k in Troutdale. Made muffins for the 5k, prepped the race packets, completed dishes, and pulled some weeds in Homers yard while I caught up with my brother on the phone. We  took off to scope out the 5k course and see where spotters were needed. Homer and his wife were an integral part of the 5k planning for Saturday. They did a fantastic job!

After completing our help for the day we took off to the Hiker Feed in Troutdale to sign up at 4. We ate endless food of salad, fried chicken, burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, chili and potato salad. Afterwards we walked a 1/4 mile to the Battle of the Bakers. In the basement of the Troutville Church of the Bretheren there was endless amounts of home baked pies, cookies, etc. they also had endless ice cream with fresh strawberries and bananas. What beautiful ladies inside and out. These ladies worked extremely hard and I was extremely grateful. Most of the thru hikers were overly impressed by the kindness these ladies demonstrated!!

To some up our night we went and grabbed a hiker from the Roanoke Greyhound Station for Homer. It was sketch but we got home at 11:30 p.m. for bed. It was also a way of helping  Homer and Teresa Witcher! They had given us so much love and it was away for us to be people helping people in return!

The Bakers battle winner. She was so overly excited that she dropped tears of Joy. It was a peanut butter Oreo pie! My first choice of the winner. She had also prepared most of the Bakers Battle so she deserves the award in lots of ways. I want to send an extra thanks to the beautiful ladies who helped with the Bakers Battle!

Gator on a sugar high at the park lol.

The free camping park. I love the rule no abusive language. Clean up the language for the kids!
